Pilot season has come and gone for many in Black Hollywood hoping to get their sitcoms picked up. And while the Gabrielle Union, Duane Martin-led Bad Boys spinoff was a no for NBC executives, it seems as if every pilot starring us, ABC passed on as well.
First up, Robin Roberts and Regina King‘s The Finest, starring Tisha Campbell Martin and Amirah Vann.

The series would’ve followed the “lives of five African-American sisters, all officers in the NYPD, as they face the challenges of their high-risk jobs while juggling the responsibilities of marriage, motherhood and family.”
Courtney Kemp (Power), Vin Diesel and Debra Martin Chase’s reboot of the 1974 blaxploitation Get Christie Love, starring Khandi Alexander was also passed on.

Other shows the network passed on included Most Likely To, starring Yvette Nicole Brown and Donald Faison, Steps with Sterling K. Brown‘s wife, Ryan Michelle Bathe and The Mission starring Wood Harris.

Though Shonda Rhimes‘ How To Get Away With Murder and Blackish was renewed for a fifth season despite creator Kenya Barris‘ reported tension with the network, it would’ve been nice to see some new black and brown faces in the mix.
