A few months ago we announced Kelly Rowland would star as Gladys Knight in the upcoming BET series, American Soul, the story of Don Cornelius‘ life and legacy and now the trailer is finally here. Sinqua Walls, most known for his role on Power, will portray the legendary icon in the 10-episode project.

Kelly Price and Jason Dirden (Greenleaf) have also been cast in the upcoming biopic. The Grammy-nominated singer is slated to star as Brianne Clarke, the “wise yet cautious” head of the Clarke family whose children Simone and Kendall are rising stars in Los Angeles. Deadline reports Dirden plays Gerald Aims, an established gangster and club owner who hasn’t lost the hustle. Aims becomes Don Cornelius’ close associate – perhaps his only friend – introducing Don to the decadent world of LA.
