Now THIS is how you start off Women’s History Month. In full disclosure, this is ALL speculation, but if reports are true, we could possibly see a new spin on the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
According to TMZ, “the company that owns the rights to ‘Fresh Prince’ filed a few trademark applications seeking to lock down rights to Fresh Princess for a television program and virtually every other media platform.”
Last year Will Smith revealed the only way a reboot of the popular 90s sitcom could happen is if he played the role of Uncle Phil, made famous by the late James Avery.
There’s no word on if Smith will be apart of the reported female-led reboot, but it’s definitely an interesting take on the show, albeit not a new concept. Remember Boy Meets World? That sitcom aired from 1993 to 2000 and returned in reboot form in 2014 as Girl Meets World. It aired for three season on the Disney Channel, proving its success.
I know we’re in reboot overload with the announcements of House Party, Shaft, Sister, Sister, Martin, Super Fly, Bad Boys, a possible Men In Black and One On One remake, but if done right, I’m not opposed to a modern trip down memory lane.
TELL US: Should Hollywood leave the classics alone or is there room enough for a modern take on the movies/shows we loved?
