This is “The Breakdown” where we look at some of the biggest moments in our lives (and by “our lives,” we mean our favorite movies) and get at the heart of what makes these scenes and characters so unforgettable with five thoughts.

If you were old enough in the late 80s and early 90s, you know just how influential rap duo Kid ‘N Play were. Their energetic rap personas and trendy fashion sense were one thing, but their dancing were on a whole ‘NOTHER level.

We could never forget this iconic dance scene from “House Party:”

1. First, let’s commend Kid’s effortless dancing kicking off the scene. Like most house parties, it only takes that one guy who is confident enough to bust a move to get the entire party started.

2. Watching this scene now, you have to address the elephant in the (scene?) room. Too many of our favorite stars are present: Martin Lawrence, Tisha Campbell, A. J. Johnson, Full Force, just to name a few.

3. House parties in the 90s wouldn’t be complete without a battle of the sexes dance-off. Although Kid ‘N Play ultimately stole the show, we have to give it to the ladies for holding it down!

4. How many times in your life have you attempted the iconic Kid ‘N Play kick dance at 1:50? And although we’ve seen this dance a million times, we still find ourselves impressed with the advanced footwork. Like seriously, how did they do it backwards without ever missing a beat?

5. When was the last time you worked up a sweat at a party? Nowadays, everyone stands around in an attempt to look cool. This scene serves as an eternal reminder to let loose and enjoy yourself. It’s a party for crying out loud!
