Lifetime is continuing their conversation surrounding R. Kelly, with part two of its award-winning series, Surviving R. Kelly. The Reckoning will follow the story of the aftermath of the 51-year-old singer’s arrest, where he was charged with 13 counts of various of criminal activity (that number has reportedly risen to 36). The six-hour sequel will premiere Jan. 2 through Jan. 4 and will feature interviews from the alleged victims, their parents as well as Sheryl Lee Ralph, Damon Dash, #MeToo Founder Tarana Burke, Mathew Knowles, Angela Yee and more. Throughout the year, the singer’s daughter along with R&B heavyweights like TankNe-Yo and Omarion have all spoken out against the 51-year-old in the decades-long accusations. Radio giant Tom Joyner revealed he’d no longer play his music and the #MuteRKelly movement grew stronger with support from Lena WaitheAva DuVernay and more.

Kelly is set to go to trial for Chicago-based indictments in Illinois in April 2020. His New York court date is set for May 2020. According to reports, “if convicted, Kelly could be facing serious prison time. In Illinois alone, aggravated criminal sexual assault can carry a prison sentence of up to 30 years behind bars while racketeering charges in New York can be punishable by up to 25 years in prison.”
