Among all of the R. Kelly news that has surfaced over the past few weeks, his daughter, Joann Kelly, who goes by the name Buku Abi recently opened up about how she really feels about her father. And her feelings, like a lot of people, aren’t very pretty.

Before getting into her true views about the “Trapped In The Closet” singer on Instagram, Buku put a disclaimer out there to let people know she wasn’t coming from a place of malice: “Before I start I just want it to be known that I am speaking from the heart, nothing I say or do not say is to hurt ANY party reading this or affected by this. To the people that feel I should be speaking up/against everything that is going on right now. I just want you all to understand that devastated is an understatement for all that I feel currently.”

The songwriter, who is one of Robert’s three children with his ex-wife, Andrea Kelly, admitted that she struggled to process everything that has been going down, especially because she hasn’t had a relationship with her dad in years. “My mother, siblings and I would never condone, support or be a part of ANYTHING negative he has done and or continues to do in his life,” she explained in her post.

In the six-part docuseries “Surviving R. Kelly,” Andrea shared her allegations of being abused by her ex-husband, which put a big strain on their family. And according to the 20-year-old, her siblings and mother haven’t seen him in years, and their decision to dismiss him from their lives came after going through obstacles “in regards to him, his life decisions and his last name.”

Abi, although being estranged from her dad, revealed that she always knew what he was about: “The same monster you all confronting me about is my father. I am well aware of who and what he is. I grew up in that house.”

According to TMZ, sources close to the record producer believe that his ex-wife might be brainwashing his children into hating him, although he hasn’t been around for a long time. But, after this eye-opening statement, this does seem like a far cry from 2015 when Kelly and his daughter collaborated on a song together. Listen below:
