Hollywood has continued its celebrations in honor of Aretha Franklin (Fantasia, Yolanda Adams, Shirley Caesar and more paid homage in a concert over the weekend and we got our first look at the never before seen concert film Amazing Grace) all year long and now it looks as if the long-awaited biopic starring Jennifer Hudson will finally see the light of day.
Respect is due in theaters on August 14, 2020. Variety reports, the film will follow Franklin’s rise to fame from her childhood in the church to her life as a soul/R&B star.
