The Queen of Soul has selected Jennifer Hudson to portray her in an forthcoming biopic.
During Clive Davis‘ annual pre-Grammy party, the music mogul announced the news as the Oscar- and Grammy-winning singer took the stage to perform a few of Aretha Franklin‘s classics. Fun fact: Davis signed both Aretha and Jennifer years ago.

And while the 75-year-old previously expressed she wanted Halle Berry to play her (*rolls eyes*), we’re more than glad the Queen has come to her senses — respectfully.
Watch the 36-year-old pay homage at the 2014 BET Awards.
Reportedly, the biopic has been in development at MGM for quite some time. Straight Outta Compton producer Scott Bernstein will produce it alongside iconic music producer Harvey Mason, Jr.
