Taraji P. Henson is the latest celebrity to receive a star on the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame (remember Snoop Dogg‘s epic reaction to the news of his star?) and we couldn’t be happier for her! Joined by John Singleton, Mary J. Blige and her fiance Kelvin Hayden, the 48-year-old Golden Globe winner told the crowd just how taken aback she was at the honor.

“This is really surreal. Any babies out there, I just want you to know that anything I do I think about you. I’m a mom. I have a son. When I set out on this journey I said I’ll never give up what am I teaching my son? Everything I do is for a generation coming behind me because if it were not for the generation before me, I would not be standing before you.”

The What Men Want star also revealed the conversation she had with God after her career didn’t take off after her infamous role in the cult classic Baby Boy.

“Everyone said I’d be a star after Baby Boy…I knew it wouldn’t be that easy. When it didn’t pop off like that for me…well I have another story to tell. If it’s so easy how will I transform people and how will I transform people?”
