The Queen of Hip Hop Soul is finally being recognized by Hollywood in a major way! Mary J. Blige is the latest black celebrity that will receive a star on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame (she’s also nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance in Mudbound).

“Mary J. Blige is one of the most popular singers of our generation,” said Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies. “Fans will be thrilled to see her star on the Boulevard as her career milestones are celebrated on this very famous sidewalk.”

And who better to honor the Queen on her big day? Sean “Diddy” Combs! According to Variety, the music mogul will be on hand to help unveil the star with his longtime friend on January 11, which also marks her 47th birthday.

For over 20 years Mary has dominated the music industry since her humble beginnings in 1992. To date she’s been nominated for 31 Grammys, winning nine and has sold over 75 million records worldwide. In 2017 Billboard named her the most successful female R&B/Hip-Hop artist of the past 25 years.

Congratulations to Mary on an iconic career.
