Prince‘s siblings will be provided with files that will give them more answers about their brother’s untimely death. According to The Associated Press, the singer’s family has been trying to get their hands on investigative documents containing information about the artist’s death “so they can determine whether lawsuits are merited before the time expires to file civil claims.”

The cause of the icon’s death was reported as an opioid overdose. The eight-time-Grammy-winning artist passed away on April 21, 2016 at the age of 57. According to CNN, the day before he was found unresponsive in the elevator at his Paisley Park home, his team was seeking help for him from an opioid addiction specialist. Following his death, we tested Prince fans if they truly knew everything about the music legend! Check out the video below to see how they did.

What hasn’t been determined, however, is how the drugs were obtained. The documents, which will include the medical examiner’s investigation, are expected to reveal some of the crucial information that the family is searching for.

“That’s why we need the records,” said a lawyer representing Prince’s family. “They should give us some guidance on who might be culpable in his death.”

Although the decision hasn’t been made official by judges yet, as long as the musician’s siblings and lawyer agree that the information will stay confidential, they will obtain the documents. Additionally, the artist’s first posthumous EP was blocked from being released last year. We know the family’s lawyers don’t go down without a fight.
