A little over a month after the world lost the icon that is Prince, we’ve come to find out the cause of his death: an opioid overdose.
The heartbreaking news come from The Minneapolis Star Tribune newspaper who reported this on Thursday afternoon on June 2, 2016.
CNN reports that Prince’s team was in conversation with an opioid addiction specialist in California to seek urgent help for the singer, just one day before he was found unresponsive in the elevator at Paisley Park, the famous location of the singer’s home and recording studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota. Prince ultimately passed at the age of 57 on April 21, 2016.
This news only makes Prince’s passing even more bitter, as we continue to lose our brightest stars to drug addiction and abuse.
