Detroit radio personality Martin Payne (Martin Lawrence) tries to juggle a job he loves, the girl he loves and whole cast of characters – from his wacky neighbor Shenehneh to “Brotha Man” from the fifth floor – in the hit 90s sitcom, Martin.
But Martin learns the hard way that, while his listeners might admire him, it’s more difficult to get respect when he returns home to his girlfriend Gina Waters (Tisha Campbell-Martin) and his friends who are always hanging out at his pad. And it doesn’t help that Gina’s best friend, Pam James (Tichina Arnold), does not approve of Martin’s massive, yet fragile male ego.
Martin’s best friends, Cole Brown (Carl Anthony Payne II) and Tommy Strawn (Thomas Mikal Ford), are a little jealous of Martin’s steady relationship with Gina and frequently complain that Gina has too much power over Martin.
Martin’s life turns into a whirlwind when his career grows and his relationship with Gina becomes stronger.
