Born in Chicago on June 14, 1931, Gibbs was married at the age of 13
and by the age of 20 was a mother of three.  She worked for United
Airlines taking small acting roles until she was discovered and suited
best for the role of the sarcastic maid, Florence Johnston, on The
Jeffersons.

When The Jeffersons ended, Gibbs took a starring role on 227 where she
also co-wrote the shows theme song.  In addition, she has made
appearances on shows like, The Hughleys, Martin, Chappelle’s Show and
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

Gibbs owned a jazz club in South Central L.A. and released a music CD, “It’s Never Too Late,” in May 2006.
