Loretta Devine was born in Houston, Texas, on August 21, 1949. In 1971 she graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Brandeis University in 1976 with a MFA in Theater.

Along with her starring role as Kim in A Different World, she has also appeared on other shows including The Cosby Show, Martin, Living Single, Girlfriends and My Wife and Kids.

Smith was born in Indianola, Mississippi on December 3, 1941. In 1987 she received a Tony for Best Featured Actress in a Play for her work in Fences.

Born April 24, 1967 in North Trenton, New Jersey, Sanders has since become an actress and stand-up comedian best known for her supporting role on A Different World.

Marisa continues to act and in 2006 she had a guest star spot on the hit F/X show Rescue Me and most recently a lead role in 2008's The Wrestler with Michey Rourke.

Pinkett Smith spent a year at the Baltimore School for Arts before she went to North Carolina School of Arts, to pursue her acting career. She got her first job in 1991 on the sitcom A Different World.

Born January 31, 1947 in New York, Turman landed his first role at the age of 12 in the Broadway play A Raisin in the Sun.

After getting a big break on the hit show Star Search, he went on to develop a hilarious variety show Sinbad & Friends All the Way Live... Almost and starred in Aliens for Breakfast a children's special for ABC Television.

Myers is probably best known as the grouchy Mr. Vernon Gaines in A Different World. However, Myers is as an accomplished pianist, has won an NAACP Image Award for his role King Hedley II, as well as an Off-Broadway AUDELCO Award for his role in Fat Tuesday.

It wasn't long after Darryl Bell graduated from Syracuse University that he was cast as a smooth-talking money schemer on A Different World in 1987.

Before joining the cast of A Different World, Summer's first gig was the voice of Penny on the 1983 cartoon Inspector Gadget.

At age 16 Boney landed a star role on the hit family sitcom The Cosby Show. She later left the series after two years but returned for short stint.
