Netflix has added a new comedic trio to their lineup — Mike Epps, Kim Fields, and Wanda Sykes will star in the blended family comedy, The Upshaws.

The 50-year-old comedian shared the first look of the series on his Instagram captioning the post, “I am so excited to finally give the world its first look of The Upshaws!”

Sykes created the sitcom with writer Regina Hicks (Sister, Sister, Girlfriends) and the pair will serve as showrunners and executive producers.

The Upshaws, which is set for a May 12 release date on the streaming platform, follows a Black working class family in Indianapolis. Bennie Upshaw (Epps) is a charismatic mechanic who owns a shop and does everything he can to care for his family. He shares three children (Khali Daniya-Renee SpragginsJourney Christine, Jermelle Simon) with his wife Regina (Fields). Bennie is also the father to a teenage son (Diamond Lyons) with whom he fathered outside of his marriage with a woman named Tasha (Gabrielle Dennis).

The comedienne will play Regina’s sister Lucretia who is described as a “sardonic sister-in-law” who is fed up with her brother-in-law’s ability to never suffer any consequences. No matter what comes their way, the Upshaws are determined to “make it work, and make it to the next level, together.”
