Malia Obama is following Michelle and Barack Obama‘s footsteps and heading into the streaming industry in Donald Glover‘s new Amazon Prime project, Hive, which is rumored to revolve around a Beyoncé-like figure.

The 37-year-old director signed a multi-year, eight-figure deal with Amazon where he will create and curate content for the streaming platform and serve as an executive producer for multiple projects. Stephen Glover, writer and producer for Atlanta and Glover’s brother, also signed an overall deal with Amazon.

Although the singer/rapper is leaving his deal with FX, it will not impact the Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning comedy-drama series. The show has been on hiatus since 2018 but will begin production for seasons three and four next month.

Not much information has been revealed about the project but according to The Hollywood Reporter, Hive will stem from writer Janine Nabers (Watchmen).

This isn’t Obama’s first time working in television. As few may recall, the former first daughter was an intern for HBO in 2015. Girls creator and writer Lena Dunham told Howard Stern that she was “an angel” and applauded her for enthusiasm to take on any task.

“She was interning at HBO, and they thought, What if she comes a couple days a week to the set of Girls?” Dunham recalled. “She loved the show, and I mean, obviously we weren’t, like, making her go get our coffee. You’re not going to send [the president’s daughter to get coffee]. But she wanted to do all the jobs. That was the cool thing. She was totally enthusiastic.”

News of the 22-year-old Harvard graduate becoming a writer follows a week after the former first lady shared the trailer for her new Netflix kid series, Waffles + Mochi.
