The 41-year-old House of Payne actress revealed to People that the 39-year-old actor proposed earlier this month with a diamond eternity band custom-made by Aydin Jewelers in Atlanta.

They celebrated the engagement with immediate family, including the NAACP Image Award Winner’s 3-year-old daughter, Ella Grace, from her past marriage to former NFL star, Ed Hartwell. Their event planner Scoobie West described the celebration as a “magical, intimate, COVID compliant evening filled with love.”

“I said Yes!!,” Pulliam captioned an Instagram photo of her holding her daughter and standing beside her soon to be husband. “This is my favorite photo from our magical engagement dinner. My desire is a lifetime and beyond filled with love & family. My heart is so filled with joy!! So excited to continue to choose each other & our family every day.”

The newly engaged couple began dating last year after meeting on the set of the TV movie Pride and Prejudice: Atlanta.

“Honestly we just hit it off,” shared The Cosby Star alum during an interview with 9Mag TV.

“We had a lot of downtime; there was a lot going on filming that project,” she continued. “So there were times where we would all be sitting in the cast seats or the van just talking.”

James was also previously married to which the Spelman alumna shared the benefits of marriage the second time around.

“I think it’s better when you’ve been married before because you’re very clear about what you don’t desire. So it makes it so much clearer when you see what it is you do want. And then you also know what you’re getting into.”

Congratulations to the newly engaged couple!
