A new ‘black-ish’ spinoff is in the works! This new addition to the franchise will star Jenifer Lewis and Laurence Fishburne under the title “old-ish.”
“old-ish” will be the third “black-ish” spinoff. The first was “grown-ish,” which follows the college life of Zoey played by Yara Shahidi, who is the oldest child of Andre ‘Dre’ and Rainbow Johnson (Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross). The other Johnson kids are Andre Jr. (Marcus Scribner), Jack (Miles Brown), and Diane (Marsai Martin). “mixed-ish” is primarily set in the 70s and highlights the life of Ross’ character, who is multiracial.
“old-ish” will focus on Lewis and Fishburne’s characters, Ruby and Earl, who are Dre’s live-in-parents. Reportedly, the retirees are giving love a second chance and have moved off to live together.
This announcement is fantastic news for the 59-year-old “Akeelah and the Bee” actor. He recently revealed that he wasn’t invited to portray his famous character, Morpheus, in “The Matrix’s” new film.
Along with Larenz Tate, Tyrese, Eve, Yandy Smith-Harris, Omari Hardwick, and Debbie Allen, The 63-year-old “Madea’s Family Reunion” actress is featured in the current season of TV One’s UNCENSORED. You can catch her episode on Sunday, October 4th.
