James “Tim” Norman has been arrested and charged in connection to the 2016 murder of his nephew, Andre Montgomery. According to investigators, Montgomery’s death was due to a murder-for-hire scheme that involved his uncle Tim. The 41-year-old, along with his other family members starred in the popular reality show “Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s.”

TMZ reports that Norman procured a $450 thousand life insurance policy on his nephew in 2014. Two years later, he then allegedly hired a woman named Terica Ellis to kill 21-year-old Montgomery. Authorities claim to have records that show Norman and Ellis communicated before and after the murder. They also say they were able to locate Ellis’s phone near the crime scene at the time of the March 14, 2016 murder. Shortly after, she deposited $9 thousand into various bank accounts, while Norman reached out to the insurance company to collect the money from Montgomery’s policy.

Miss Robbie, the matriarch of the family and lead of the OWN reality series, shared her struggle with her grandson’s death on camera with her son, Norman, by her side.

Andre was not a main cast member of the reality show however his life and relationships with the other cast (members of his family) were often highlighted in the show.

Norman is currently being held without bond at a jail in Mississippi.
