Last year we announced the second TV adaptation of Denzel Washington‘s career being remade with new faces in the roles (Russell Hornsby will play the actor’s character in The Bone Collector coming to NBC), including Queen Latifah in Equalizer. And now another powerhouse name has joined the cast — Lorraine Toussaint.

Deadline reports, “Toussaint will play “Frieda ‘Aunt Fry’ Lascombe, Robyn’s aunt and her rock who’s been living with Robyn and her daughter, Delilah, since Robyn’s divorce. She has an undeniable wisdom and is a truth-teller who tends to be a wary optimist.”

Washington previously starred in both the 2014 film and 2018 sequel. Latifah’s role is a reimagining of sorts and marks the return of the franchise to the small screen, which made its debut on CBS in 1985 and starred Edward Woodward.
