When news hit of Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson teaming up to remake the iconic Saw series last summer, the skepticism rightly seeped in. Not that the two couldn’t do the job, but would it be believable and would fans be open to a new take on the horror franchise? If you remember, from 2004 to 2017, Saw dominated the box office, becoming one of the most successful franchises of all-time, grossing $976 million at the worldwide box office and starring some of our favorites like Meagan GoodDanny Glover and Lyriq Bent.

Now Rock, who will also Executive Produce the project, and Jackson will add their names to the family in Sprial: From The Book of Saw. The comedian will reportedly play a “police detective investigating a series of grizzly crimes.” And there’s only one person who could play his wise-cracking, lovable father. Watch.

Spiral hits theaters May 15, 2020.
