Tasha Smith has just joined Lee Daniels’ new show, Good People on Amazon Prime. This is her first time acting in a series since 2017. Starring in this fresh series is an exciting change of pace for Smith, as she recently has been behind the camera in the director’s chair.

The 48-year-old will be playing Shar Johnson, who runs a college health center and is best friends with Whitney Cummings’ character Hazel Miller.

It’s refreshing to see no typecasting going on here as this role is quite a change from her last character Angela Williams on Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse where she played a sassy entrepreneur, mother, and wife.

This isn’t the first time the actress turned director has worked with Daniels, she recently directed a few episodes of the Empire creator’s newly canceled show Star.

This is just one of the many good news to come to the New Jersey native’s way. Just last week she announced her new relationship with actor Michael K. Williams.

Smith talks more about her life and path to entertainment in her hilarious and truth-telling episode of TV One’s UNCENSORED.
