It’s sad to say, but Forest Whitaker is adding to the list of celebrities who split in 2018. The actor filed for divorce from his wife of 22 years, Keisha Nash Whitaker.
The “Black Panther” actor cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce in the documents filed on Thursday to the Los Angeles County Superior Court. According to TMZ, Whitaker asked the court to terminate any spousal support.
Irreconcilable differences sound like a far cry from their happier times, especially according to Keisha: “He is very honest and sensitive and romantic,” she told PEOPLE in 1997. “He swept me off my feet — not with material things, more like the way he displayed his emotions.”
Hopefully not a result of a downward spiraling relationship, but over the years, Keisha’s weight has been a topic of concern. In 2014, she reportedly lost 35lbs, which led some to believe that her health was in jeopardy because of her thin frame. But according to her posts on social media, she doesn’t hold back on what she’s eating, showing off pizza, tacos and more.
The two met on the set of the 1993 film “Blown Away,” got engaged the following year, and married in 1996. Forest and Keisha have two daughters together: Sonnet Noel, 22, and True, 20. Whitaker also has a son, Ocean, 28, and Keisha has a daughter, Autumn, 27, both from previous relationships.
