There has been talk of a third installment to the “Sister Act” franchise for a while now, and finally we’ve got some answers. It’s been 26 years since the original film starring Whoopi Goldberg made us believe in second chances.

What is being called “Sister Act 3” is set to premiere on Disney’s streaming service Disney+ in late 2019. But the original Sister Mary Clarence most likely won’t be a part of it. In an interview with Good Morning Britain, Goldberg said [start at 3:26]: “We’ve been all over Disney begging and they’ve decided that they’re going to go in a different direction with ‘Sister Act.’ So it won’t be ‘Sister Act 3,’ it’ll be a brand-new rendition of Sister Act. And I guess I’ll walk through a scene and that’s how they’ll say I was part of it.”

The original 1992 film follows the talk show host’s character, Deloris Wilson, a Reno lounge singer, who goes into protective custody at a San Francisco convent, and pretends to be a nun after a mob boss puts out a hit for her. The movie also starred Maggie Smith and Harvey Keitel, and earned $232 million worldwide. Just earlier this year the stars of “Sister Act 2,” Sheryl Lee Ralph and Lauryn Hill reunited at Kaya Fest where the two gave us major nostalgia. And last year, some of the original cast of “Sister Act” (Whoopi included) reunited on The View, and they didn’t miss a beat!

Other details, like the cast and story lines of the new “Sister Act” are basically being held as a secret, but the movie (or possible series) is currently in development. Whatever format it’s in, the script for the project will be written by Regina Hicks, co-executive producer of HBO’s Insecure, and Karin Gist, the showrunner of FOX’s Star.

Hopefully, Disney finds a way to incorporate Whoopi. Because would it really be a “Sister Act” project without her?
