This year, Santa came a little early and his name is Tyler Perry. The filmmaker spread holiday cheer by paying off all the items on layaway at two Walmart stores in the Atlanta metro area totaling about $432,635.

Originally, his goal was to remain anonymous, but clearly, things didn’t stay that way.

He took to social media to talk about his very charitable act: “I know it’s a hard time, a lot of people are struggling and I’m just really, really grateful to be able to be in a position to do this.”

Customers only have to pay one penny…just one, to receive their items!

In a statement to Hollywood Reporter, a representative for Walmart raved about what Perry did for customers who might not have been able to pay for their items on layaway: “Tyler Perry’s generous donation is making an unbelievable difference for so many families, and we can’t thank him enough for his kindness. The heartfelt excitement and joy we’re seeing from our customers as a result of his holiday gift has been touching.”

This isn’t the first time Perry has helped others despite their current situation. Earlier this year, after former Cosby Show star Geoffrey Owens spoke out about being proud to support his family by working at Trader Joe’s, the director offered him a role in his next production. And last year, Tyler assisted Aaron O’Connell, who stars in his show, The Haves And The Have Nots in planning an amazing proposal to his now-wife. The actor also helped Charlamagne tha God realize he was molested. Watch below:

Tyler is set to portray former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell in the upcoming biopic, “Vice” about former vice president, Dick Cheney.
