The highly anticipated Harriet biopic has added a few all-stars to its cast! Vanessa Bell Calloway will play the mother of Harriet Tubman (played by Tony Award winner Cynthia Erivo).
Vondie Curtis-Hall, most known for his roles in For The People and Eve’s Bayou, has also joined the cast, and although there’s no word on his role, seeing he and Vanessa on screen together (they both starred in Coming To America) again is sure to make for something special.
The film has been met with some controversy. Last week Erivo responded to the backlash of her playing the American civil rights abolitionist (the 31-year-old is British and some have taken issue with a non-American cast in the role).
Actor and singer Leslie Odom Jr., Deborah Ayorinde (Girls Trip) and Zackary Momoh (Seven Seconds) have also been added to the cast.
