The sisters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. trekked to Houston, Texas over the weekend to commemorate their 68th Boule. The first black Greek organization for college women also announced their newest honorary members, including gospel powerhouse Yolanda Adams.

Other notable women who became honorary members are Scientist and Astronaut Jeanette Epps and Civil Rights advocate Teta V. Banks. Soliciting honorary members for Greek organizations is nothing new. Earlier this year Sybrina Fulton (Trayvon Martin’s mother) and Tracy Mourning joined Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
