When news broke earlier this month that Jada Pinkett Smith and Gabrielle Union had “tension” for 17 years, unbeknownst to the public, we were all shocked.

On this week’s episode of Red Table Talk, the actresses sat down to get to the bottom of their issues but what we got in return was so much more.

On why the conversation was overdue.

Jada: “We had a bit of a break and we don’t know why. I had to apologize and say to myself, ‘damn Jada this is some petty a** sh*t…this is my year of growth. I’m cleaning up a lot of stuff and you were one of them. Having this moment with you is helping me in that process.”

Gabrielle: “Everybody plays a part…I’d been communicating through negativity. I’d been shrinking other people. “

On not losing their identity while married.

Jada: “If I don’t do this, he’ll find somebody else that’ll do it. And I hate that messaging. I got to the point where if he can find somebody else to do it, go do it. I can’t do that, like that anymore. I have to do more for myself.”

Gabrielle: “The idea that a “good woman” should have the propensity to handle enormous amounts of pain…that’s what makes you a good wife….I’m not interested in pain and I’m not interested in hurting you either. I married D-Wade and I have a marriage with Dwyane Tyrone Wade Jr. And I’m still getting to know him.”

Watch their conversation below.

Been missing the Facebook series? Jada opened up last week about why she’s been wearing turbans and scarves lately.
