The state of Georgia looks like it’ll create history for the second time (Keisha Lance Bottoms was elected Atlanta’s second black female Mayor in December), electing Stacey Abrams as the Democratic nominee for Governor. Additionally, Abrams will be the nation’s first black female governor if she wins.

So who is she? According to Wikipedia, the 1995 Spelman graduate worked as a tax attorney at the Sutherland Asbill & Brennan law firm in Atlanta, with a focus on tax-exempt organizations, health care and public finance. She was appointed the Deputy City Attorney for Atlanta at age 29. She is one of six children and her sister, Leslie Abrams, is a federal judge in the Middle District of Georgia.

General elections will be held November 6, 2018. Here’s to Stacey making #BlackExcellence, #BlackHistory and #BlackGirlMagic.
