Ricky Bell is most known for his 30-year career with New Edition and BBD, but now the 50-year-old is collaborating with an unfamiliar face — his wife of 14 years, Amy Correa-Bell. Not only teammates in love and life, the pair recently released their first duet, Gold. They told Essence the decision to team up was easy.
“We share a lot of the same musical taste—what we listen to when we’re driving, throughout the house, when we’re together. So, to come together and just put our creativity together, that part was pretty easy. The decision was made based off of our story together, our life together, and our marriage together, and sharing that story through song. I was listening to my wife’s EP that she was working on and I heard so much glow in the production, in her writing, in her performance. It was so amazing that I was inspired by it, and I said, “Wow babe! I want to be a part of this project. Let’s do a song together.” That’s how we came up with the song that we have now.”

The stunning visuals of the acoustic love song was directed by Meagan Good, a long-time friend of the couple.

Proceeds from Gold will go to Direct Relief, a charity that provides life-saving medical aid to those affected by poverty and emergencies. Watch below.
