We know the Queen of Soul’s music career is far from over, but unfortunately she was ordered by doctors to cancel two upcoming shows. Aretha Franklin was scheduled to perform on March 25 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center and April 28 at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.

Page Six reports that the singer’s management team said in a statement that Franklin “has been ordered by her doctor to stay off the road and rest completely for at least the next two months … Franklin is ‘extremely disappointed she cannot perform as she had expected and hoped to.'”

Rumors of poor health have swirled around the soul singer for years, and the 75-year-old canceled shows in 2017 due to a series of health complications. However, she was spotted with a new look in an Instagram photo in July 2017 looking fabulous!

The 18-time Grammy winner announced her retirement plans last year after the release of her most recent album.  After 57 years as a performer she made an announcement saying she’d no longer be touring but would still perform at select events.

We know the legendary artist won’t stay down for long! In June 2018, Franklin is still scheduled to perform at the Wang Theatre in Boston and at the Toronto Jazz Festival.
