If anyone has had a meteoric rise to diva-dom, it’s JHud. We couldn’t believe it when she was voted off American Idol in 2004, but who needs American Idol when you can land the role of Effie White in the movie Dreamgirls, opposite Jamie Foxx, Eddie Murphy and Beyoncé, right? Her breakout performance was, literally, her golden ticket to stardom, earning her an Oscar for best supporting actress. With that, doors started opening everywhere for this diva—“Vogue” cover, Weight Watchers spokesperson and acting roles in the Sex in the City movie and the Secret Life of Bees. And, of course, she can always blow. She won a Grammy for Best R&B Album for her debut album.
