Just in time for International Women’s Day, Compton, California Mayor Aja Brown is swooping in to save the day! Last month actress Stacey Dash announced her run for congress in California’s 44th district, and we were just as confused as you were.
Following the news, members of the California Congressional delegation gave the conservative the side-eye (just like the rest of us) and reportedly reached out to Brown, asking her to run against Dash. Today, Brown officially announced that she will indeed be going for a seat in Congress!
It’s official, I’m in! I’m running for Congress to represent the 44th District. #ImWithAja #JoinAjaBrown pic.twitter.com/wZIhmEvZqu

We’re so relieved by this news! The Clueless actress’ run might be short lived after all. Brown became the youngest mayor of Compton in 2013, and was re-elected for a second term last year after reducing crime and violence in the area. Dash’s accomplishments include turning the black community against her by saying we shouldn’t have Black History Month and insulting our beloved Maxine Waters. Good luck with that one, sis!
Stacey Dash has nothing on Aja Brown! We're rooting for you love! https://t.co/MfX41p0eQL

Brown will also run against Democratic Rep. Nanette Diaz Barragán. The race for Congress is getting interesting and we can’t wait to see how it all unfolds. In the meantime, the support for Aja is already rolling in on Twitter!
Congratulations @AjaLBrown and Good Luck! #ImWithAja https://t.co/0XwCEiOO6M
