It’s no secret the effect Black Panther has had on the African-American community, but the same joy and pride we felt, so did those of other races. Sandra Bullock, who is raising a black son, revealed just how much seeing the cast of the box-office smash hit meant to her at the 90th Academy Awards over the weekend.
“I started to cry backstage when I was telling [the ‘Black Panther’ cast] how much the film meant to me as a woman, but how much it meant to me as a mother. That says a lot about where we are in this world and in the world of superheroes.”
The Oscar award winning actress is the mother of two African-American kids, Louis, 8 and Laila, 5.
She told Access Hollywood about the importance of her son seeing superheroes on screen that look like him.
“About five years ago my son asked me if there were any brown Legos. I said yes there are and I got a sharpie and turned Spider-Man brown and I turned the Legos brown and I don’t have to turn them brown anymore.”
