In 2014 Sorority Sisters debuted on VH1, but after much criticism and threats of boycotts (the cast members often used profanity, were involved in physical altercations and more), the network pulled the show after only a few episodes.

Since the short-lived reality show aired, Priyanka Banks, a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. claims she was expelled for her appearance on the show, and is now taking the organization to court.

According to The Jasmine Brand, “Banks brought her complaint in the Eastern District of New York, claiming she learned from “a random Facebook posting” on Jan. 13, 2015, that the Deltas had expelled her along with four other Sorority Sisters co-stars.” She alleges that she still never received a formal expulsion letter.

Hear what K. Michelle (also a member of Delta Sigma Theta) said about the show after it’s first episode below.

Banks is seeking punitive damages, alleging defamation, breach of contract and negligence, as well as other counts.
