Rapper DMX pleaded not guilty to 14 charges of tax fraud on Friday.

X, whose real name is Earl Simmons, turned himself in to New York law enforcement on Thursday and spent the night in jail, being released after posting a $500,000 bond.

Although he was freed on bail, he was banned from leaving the New York area and was able to perform at Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival on Saturday where he addressed his tax fraud allegations to the audience.

After his release, the rapper was also able to post this inspirational Instagram picture.

DMX has reportedly avoided $1.7 million in taxes from 2002 to 2005.

If convicted of all 14 counts, he could face up to 44 years in federal prison.
