The developing film will be based on Tell the Truth & Shame the Devil: The Life, Legacy, and Love of My Son Michael Brown, a memoir by Brown’s mother, Lezley McSpadden.

Allegedly, Warner Brothers anticipates the film will be “tonally and thematically similar to” the 2005 Academy Award-winning film Crash.
Many studios were interested in depicting Brown’s story but Warner Bros. won in a large bid against the other competing studios. They are now in the midst of finding a writer to cover this monumental story.
