It has been 13 days since the movie Wonder Woman has opened up in theaters and fans are going crazy. Even actor, producer and philanthropist Oprah Winfrey was inspired by the movie to host her own “Wonder Woman Day” Party at her home.
Oprah used the film as an opportunity to highlight the first female super-hero to be featured on the big screen. She also used her party as a way to mentor 28 lucky young girls as well as welcome their families.
In an interview with Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Oprah shares what it means to be a mentor in this day in age and how important mentorship is when fostering the success of young girls and boys. Winfrey says, “A mentor is someone who allows you to see the hope inside yourself. A mentor is someone who allows you to know that no matter how dark the night, in the morning joy will come. A mentor is someone who allows you to see the higher part of yourself when sometimes it becomes hidden to your own view”.
From the Wonder Woman head piece that both she and her dog Sadie wore, to the Wonder Woman themed popcorn buckets, and even the Wonder Woman cake topper. In true Wonder Woman fashion, Oprah goes above an beyond to celebrate another success for women and a chance to show young women true mentorship.
