Jourdan Dunn and Vanessa Williams' Daughter For Michael Kors Campaign

For good reason, designer brands are looking to sprinkle #BlackGirlMagic into their fashion campaigns.

Currently on our radar are Jourdan Dunn and Vanessa Williams’ daughter, Jillian Hervey (musically known as Lion Babe), who have been tapped to model the latest threads in the Michael Kors Summer 2017 campaign titled “The Walk:”

We’ve noticed that designer brands have been paying a lot more attention to adding models of color to their advertising. Far too often, there is only one model of color (usually racially ambiguous) present in these kinds of campaigns, if at all. We have to admit that we were shocked when Gucci had an all Black cast for their Pre-Fall 2017 campaign, “Soul Scene:”

And although we hope that this recent surge of placing Black models in designer ads is more than “a trend for now,” we are more than happy to see our own being celebrated.
