The glow-up continues, especially if your name is Issa Rae.
The co-creator and lead actress of Insecure (which we can’t wait to come back) is getting her first break on the big screen! Sources say that Rae will star alongside Bill Hader in “Empress of Serenity,” the directorial debut of Jesse Andrews (“Me and Earl and the Dying Girl”).
We know that Issa is killing it in our TV screens, and although we don’t deny her acting chops for one minute, we wonder what kind of movie career is waiting for her. We notice that way too often, Black actresses get cast over and over for similar roles which seems to then become a lane for them. Who knows? Perhaps Issa will define her own lane, just like she defined her own career.
