It’s time for your college reunion as the hilarious 80’s smash sitcom A Different World comes to TV One! Set on the campus of the fictional Black university, Hillman College, World is the spin-off to the classic sitcom The Cosby Show, where Denise Huxtable (Lisa Bonet) enters her family’s alma mater. Leaving the Huxtable house, she moves into her new home, Gilbert Hall where she meets her roommate Jaleesa Vinson (Dawnn Lews) and good friends Maggie Lauten (Marissa Tomei) and Kadeem Hardison (Dwayne Wayne).
Even though Denise dropped out soon after, the rest of the gang continued their journeys and saw new faces like spoiled rotten Whitley Gilbert (Jasmine Guy), the "hippie child" Freddie (Cree Summer), med student Kim (Charnele Brown), Coach Walter Oakes (Sinbad), Col. Bradford Taylor (Glynn Turnman), the feisty Lena James (Jada Pinkett Smith), frat boy Ron Johnson (Darryl M. Bell) and the campus cook Vernon Gaines (Lou Myers). Together, the Hillman gang dealt with everything from racism to fraternity pledging to on-campus romances.
It’s a totally different world than the one they’ve been accustomed to at home with the parents, but it’s an experience that they wouldn’t trade for anything!
