It all started Tuesday night, when Roland Martin tweeted:
I’m sick & tired of reading sisters on my social media accounts say that they won’t see @NatTurnerFilm because @NateParker‘s wife is white.
— rolandsmartin (@rolandsmartin) October 12, 2016
And seeing as people on Twitter aren’t really known for holding their tongues, many who disagreed with Martin let him know. Like, a lot.
Where are the links to the countless sisters saying this? #Receipts @rolandsmartin @NatTurnerFilm @NateParker

@Only4RM @rolandsmartin @NatTurnerFilm @NateParker according to Dateline, “Birth of a Nation showed a majority of females attending at 61%”.

And that was just the beginning. Thirteen hours later the whole thing is trending on Twitter and we thought it would be a good time to show the whole story. This morning, Roland brought the issue up on NewsOne Now and we’ve got the video right here. Watch and tell us if you think Roland has a good point.
TELL US: When we asked a similar question about Luke Cage actor Mike Colter’s White wife, 80% of you said you didn’t care. But if you did NOT see “Birth of a Nation,” tell us why.
