There’s a Family Matters reunion heading to the small screen — well, a small reunion of sorts. Telma Hopkins, who played Rachel Crawford on the 90s sitcom, will reunite with her TV son Bryton James who played Little Richie. And, Little Richie isn’t so little anymore. The 5’9″ actor, now 34, has played Devon Hamilton on The Young and the Restless since 2004. Now, Hopkins’ path will cross again with James on the soap opera.

Hopkins will play Denise Tolliver, a private detective who uncovers shocking information about another character’s past. Hopkins will appear in several episodes with James beginning June 1, per Entertainment Weekly.

“It is kind of like coming home,” said Hopkins. “It is full circle. I don’t feel I have ever lost touch with him, but certainly, it is nice to look across a room and see that smiling face that I am so used to. It feels like home, like family, like Family Matters.”

“Acting felt effortless and comfortable when we stepped on the stage together,” James added. “When the scene started, we had to act like we didn’t know each other, but it has reminded me and made me feel really grateful about how long I have been able to do this. Because Telma is one of the reasons that I have enjoyed it for 30 years. To step on my first stage with her and have Telma be the one to feel so comfortable and at home back then, it is very special.”

The reunion will be a first for Hopkins and James since Family Matters ended in 1998.
