The highly anticipated biopic is almost here! The 3-hour miniseries will follow Salt-n-Pepa‘s rise to fame and the imprint they left in the hip-hop community.

Executive produced by Cheryl “Salt” James, Sandra “Pepa” Denton, and co-produced by Queen Latifah, Deadline reports that Salt-N-Pepa “will tell the story of nursing students Cheryl “Salt” James and Sandra “Pepa” Denton, who fell into the world of rap and hip hop, after recording for a friend’s school project. One of the first all-female rap groups, the series will look at the pair who were unafraid to talk about sex and share their thoughts on men.”

G.G. Townson will portray Salt while Laila Odom and Monique Paul will star as Pepa and Deidra “DJ Spinderella” Roper, respectively.

The biopic will include some of their greatest hits from “Let’s Talk About Sex,” to “Push It” and “What A Man.”

Townson expressed her excitement on Instagram by giving a special shoutout to “the one and only @daonlysalt” for “being such an AMAZING support system during this entire journey!”
