The 51-year-old took to Instagram to say what we’ve all been thinking about the year, “F—k you 2020.” After sharing a selfie of him visibly in a hospital bed with a mask and a hospital gown, a few fans speculated that he may have tested positive for COVID-19. Nonetheless, he confirmed that he was going to be fine, “No, not Covid it [sic] my heart. I’ll be ok though.”

The news comes a few short weeks after the 20th anniversary of the classic sitcom Girlfriends which featured Tracee Ellis Ross, Jill Marie Jones, Golden Brooks, and Persia White alongside Hayes. His former co-star Jones left a comment on his page “sending LOTS OF LOVE and prayers your way.”

He has since checked out of the hospital and has returned home.

Update 9/28/2020: In a phone interview with the Chicago Tribune, Hayes shared that he still has to take more tests as they’re still not certain what the cause is. Nonetheless, he does have congestive heart failure and found it difficult to breathe. “So I was in the hospital overnight, they were having trouble getting my blood pressure back down,” the Chicago native shared. “Seems like the more they look, the more problems they find.”

We’re praying for a speedy recovery!
