It looks like we’ll be seeing more of Simone Missick, Cedric The Entertainer and Tichina Arnold on our televisions! Their hit shows, All Rise and The Neighborhood have both been renewed for second and third seasons respectively.

Missick, famously known for her role in Luke Cage, stars as Judge Lola Carmichael in the court drama “that follows the chaotic, hopeful and sometimes absurd lives of its judges, prosecutors and public defenders, as they work with bailiffs, clerks and cops to get justice for the people of Los Angeles amidst a flawed legal process.”

Cedric and Arnold are married in The Neighborhood, “a comedy about what happens when the friendliest guy in the Midwest moves his family to a neighborhood in Los Angeles where not everyone looks like him or appreciates his extreme neighborliness.”

Programming on CBS has notoriously been lily-white for longer than we can count (they are famously known for the lack of diversity amongst their shows). For years Shemar Moore (Criminal Minds) and LL Cool J (NCIS: Los Angeles) were the only consistent Black faces the network seemed to fully believe in, but thankfully we’re starting to see a change…no matter how slow it is.
