Mathew Knowles Reveals He Had Breast Cancer Two Months Ago [WATCH]

As the world starts its annual celebration of Breast Cance Awareness month, Mathew Knowles sat down with Michael Strahan Wednesday morning to reveal he was diagnosed with Breast Cancer two months ago. When his wife Gena Avery noticed a spot of blood on his shirts and on the sheets, the 67-year-old father to Beyoncé and Solange went to the Doctor. After getting the diagnosis, he told the Good Morning America host that his first call was to his family.

He even revealed because of the prognosis, he was now susceptible to prostate, pancreatic and melanoma cancers.

And although Breast Cancer only affects about 1% of men, Knowles wants to encourage males to get checked.

Outside of Knowles and Richard Roundtree (the actor was diagnosed in 1993), there hasn’t been an influx of Black men who speak out about the issue. Here’s to hoping this encourages them to do so.
