Yikes! Could something be inadvertently going on between Master P and Tyler Perry? During Essence Fest last weekend, it seems as if the two New Orleans natives ran into each other, but according to P, the “energy wasn’t there”.
In an interview with TheYBF‘s podcast, the 49-year-old seems to have expected a different type of interaction with Perry during their first encounter. “I bumped into Tyler Perry…but it was awkward. I thought we was going to embrace each other. I think that people are afraid when they see me, because they know I’m so independent. And I’m doing this, so I don’t know, am I threatening to them or whatever. I’m ready to embrace him, like a black man from New Orleans. Like, I’m happy for you brother…but the energy wasn’t there.”
He went on to allude that maybe he’s “too real”, standing firm on his belief that a man putting on a dress is not his way of doing things (Perry’s Madea franchise have reportedly made more than $569 million). “I wouldn’t put on a dress to be in a movie. My morals are different. I don’t care how much money, I just wouldn’t do it.”
It seems like P might have expected a bit of recognition or to eventually join forces with Perry. “To see me, where I’m rising up now in the film side, I woulda thought he’d be happy, another brother from New Orleans…it wasn’t a bad thing but it wasn’t what I expected.”
