Scarface has officially announced his campaign for city councilman and we’re excited! The rap veteran is going into politics after over three decades of creating music.

The lyricist whose real name is Brad Jordan dropped hints about his campaign in early June posting on Instagram “Should I run for Houston City Council??” He made his official announcement this past weekend posting his campaign flyer on Instagram to his 245k followers.

This isn’t the first time that the 48-year-old rapper has been around politics. In 2018, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and Councilman Dwight Boykins named June 26th Brad ‘Scarface’ Johnson day after years of repping the city and giving back to the community through teaching students about the music business and starting non-profit organizations that help underserved members of the community.

While Councilman Boykins is looking to claim the spot of Mayor, the former Geto Boys rapper is looking to fill his seat.

The “Diary Of A Mad Man” rapper has already gotten support from other fellow rappers like MC Lyte and Lil’ Keke commenting under his post “I’m here to support” and “Salute”.

This is the Houston rapper’s first time on the campaign block and it’ll be great to see him put his words to action as the city of Houston’s Councilman.
